(1445-1510) Botticelli was a leading Renaissance painter. He apprenticed to Fra Filippo Lippi and opened his own workshop by 1470. He was active in Florence and received patronage from the Medicis. Important paintings of his include The Adoration of the Magi, Primavera  and The Birth of Venus.
